Clueless or Mindless?
I have this insane amount of free time this evening and felt like I should post. The only problem is that I'm not sure what to talk about.
The soccer season ended recently. It's amazing how much more I get to see my friends now. :D I missed them. They tell me that they missed having me on the sideline, but I enjoyed having the time for other things.
My all-time favorite quote comes from TruTV, formerly CourtTV. My roommate and I watch almost nothing else, so we hear this one a lot. We still haven't managed to hear it without repeating it in a clearly mocking tone of voice. "It sounds like you have a personal vindictive against me." I mean, seriously, how can you not be cracking up right now?? We get a huge kick out of it.
I know I've said nothing of any sunstance, but I appreciate you listening anyway. That's why I have the "Random" category for my posts. After about noon, my brain begins to shut down.

Am I Alone??? and more
So we've all learned by now that I'm not very good at writing regularly. Well, sorry about that. I'm like that with phone calls and e-mails too. I stay way to busy to have time to do all this stuff. I do these when I have the time and the energy at the same time.
I told you I'd tell you about camp. Not much to tell really. 9 of us went. We ate terrible food, climbed .25 mile up hill with 3 flights of stairs every time we wanted to go back to our campsite, and did some cool stuff like whitewater rafting and canoeing, caving and rock climbing, and low and high ropes courses. It was a good trip, but I don't think I'll be going to camp next year. Since I didn't have a ob this summer, I really, really need to have one next summer.
Since I have a moment now between driving kids to summer school and going to the dentist, I'm going to take a second to share a story. My goal, honestly, is to know that I'm not alone in this situation, that it happens to other people too...
A New Phase for Soccer Chica and soccerchica.com
Hey there, all!
I'm still learning my way around the new site. I really like the layout. We had to take off the AIM application; it was slowing things down a lot.
Alright, so now that most of the transformation of soccerchica.com is finished, I'm going to pick up where I left off. I'll get back to writing every now and then.
I'm leaving for camp tomorrow morning. I won't be back until Saturday evening. I'll write about when I get back. I probably won't have much else to say until then.
See you all in a week!

Summer at Last!
Now that I'm home, I've jumped right back into all that I do here. I spent the weekend staffing a camp for Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Today, I start back at my job from last summer. I have CPR training this week Next week, I fly to Texas to visit family. I'll attend camp in June. Then back to school in August.
Sitting in front of my TV in my PJs is probably the most amazing thing I've done since last August. I appreciate it so much more this summer than last summer. Wow.
Don't forget to enjoy your summer!!!

AIM on SoccerChica.com
Hey everyone!
I mentioned in a past entry that my AIM screenname is SoccerChicaFan. Well, now you don't have to download AIM to be able to talk to me!!!
If you look to the top of the page, in the right sidebar, you'll notice a big blue box. You type in that box, and I'll get it on my AIM. We can chat, even though you aren't on AIM and I'm not on soccerchica.com. Kind of cool, huh?
Well, that's all I have for now. I'm swamped with this being the last week before Finals Rest Week (the week before finals when professors aren't allowed to have any assignments due). Then finals. Then summer. 3 months of nothing. Sweet.
Gays in Soccer
Big D sent me this article, and I thought it was pretty interesting.
I still don't know how to get the actual article in this entry, so here's the link: Gays in Soccer
I was particularly caught by the word "popular" used to describe homosexuality in South America. Of course, I'd love to hear what you think of the issue.
Is soccer really for everyone or should the soccer community stick to a "don't ask, don't tell" standard?
Speak up. Be heard.

I'm back! For now.
Hey there!
I know it's been a while. I apologize, but appreciate Big D's efforts to keep this up when I'm unable to. I also want to thank you all for your wonderful comments. It's always nice to see evidence that real people are actually reading this blog.
So, between a heavy class load, a part-time job, and gobs of volunteer work, while Big D has been running this show, I've seen a lot happen in the soccer world. It's all kind of flown by in the two months since I've written. I intend to just jump right back into this...until I get enormously stressed out again...and keep talking to you.
Watch for an update in the next couple of days!
Thanks again for all your support!!!

Not all soccer chicks are lesbian
In high school, I played with the girly-girl preppy kids who weren't afraid to go in for the tackle but freaked out if they broke a nail. Now in college, I play with the opposite: the butch girls who will go through anyone to get the ball in the back of the net. Still, though I've seen both types of players own the field, so many people think female soccer players only come in one form - lesbian.
I will say that I do know quite a few lesbian soccer chicks, but let me point out that at least 90% of the players I know are completely heterosexual. At school, many of my teammates and I are constantly faced with the accusation of being lesbian. We are always searching for a way to extinguish this stereotype and the rumors that come with it. Some girls will get a boyfriend, no mater who it is, just to have "proof" that they are straight. Obviously, that's not the best way to handle the issue. Really, all we can do is state that we are/are not lesbian, stand behind our statement, and continue to stomp out rumors about us and our teammates.
Oops..
Hey everyone.
This entry is basically to apologize for my silence over the past couple of weeks. I was trying to get through finals for a week. And once my Christmas Break started, had to fly to Texas to spend a week in the remote lands which have no internet. I'll spend this week catching up.
Thanks! :D
